Greetings,
Crescent Consulting, as part of the Silverstein Team for the World Trade Center site, is writing to strongly encourage your support for accelerating the rebuilding of the WTC Towers 2, 3 & 4. The benefits of this project will be felt in communities throughout the City and State and will especially make a difference to Minority-owned and Women-owned businesses (M/WBEs). The World Trade Center Towers are shovel-ready projects and could employ 10,000 construction workers and keep many companies from closing their doors. Silverstein Properties established a goal for the World Trade Center project of 17% M/WBE participation which can total over $200 million per tower to M/WBE firms. Additionally, the project could bring 50,000 to 75,000 permanent jobs to the lower Manhattan area.
You can demonstrate your support through several methods.
Letter of support will be greatly appreciated. Attached is a Draft Letter you can use and please feel free to personalize and/or tweak your letter as you see fit.

Re: Build the World Trade Center – benefits to Minority-owned and Women-owned Businesses
Dear Governor Paterson,
I am writing in support of accelerating the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site. The benefits will be felt in communities throughout the City and the State and will especially make a difference to Minority-owned and Women-owned businesses (M/WBEs).
As you are aware, the economic climate has left the construction projects in New York City open to an unprecedented array of competitors instituting yet another hurdle for struggling small, disadvantaged, minority, women and - most importantly - local New York based firms. The situation means major challenges for companies like mine.
The World Trade Center project is shovel-ready and could employ 10,000 construction workers and keep many companies from closing their doors. In addition, the project could bring 50,000 to 75,000 permanent jobs to the lower Manhattan area. Once the towers are built, the permanent jobs and presence of new businesses will provide a huge economic impact to the revitalization of Lower Manhattan, which is a vital part of our state’s economic base.
There is also a huge amount at stake for Minority-owned and Women-owned businesses. Silverstein Properties has been the developer of many of New York City’s icon buildings over the years. Not only are they known for their professionalism, innovation and strong management, but Silverstein has been a great supporter of the Minority-owned and Women-owned Business (M/WBE) community providing opportunities and hands-on experience. Silverstein Properties established a goal for the World Trade Center project of 17% M/WBE participation which can total over $200 million per tower to M/WBE firms. Like you, Silverstein Properties is an ally and a supporter for the Minority and Women Owned Business community.
I believe you are the only one who can engineer an agreement between Silverstein and the Port Authority of NY/NJ. This would be a historic achievement. Your efforts would rebuild what terrorist destroyed on 9/11. Governor, you would also be finishing the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan; a vision that other elected officials have talked about, but haven’t achieved.
M/WBE businesses are counting on you to get the rebuilding back on track and us back to work. We urge you to give your time and attention to this key project.
Sincerely,
|
